Elme Communities (formerly Washington REIT) is winding down under a shareholder-approved Plan of Sale and Liquidation and no longer holds the operating apartment portfolio described in older filings. In November 2025 it sold 19 multifamily communities to an affiliate of Cortland Partners for $1.6 billion and has been selling its remaining assets through 2026. Shareholders received an initial special liquidating distribution of $14.67 per share in January 2026, with an estimated $1.74 to $1.94 per share of further distributions expected from remaining sales. The shares still trade on the NYSE while the liquidation is completed; delisting and dissolution are targeted for late 2026.
